AoG have been a client of ours for some time now, we love the team there, and we love working with them - which is why we were excited when they called to tell us they wanted a fresh new look.
The brief from AoG was simple: "it needs to be different, but the same". Easy. AoG were in desperate need of a new platform to see them through for the next few years, and they needed a freshening up of their look, but they didn't want a rebrand - instead simple a restyle of their current brand.
The WebWorks Design team went to work straight away to take core concepts of AoG's design and style, but apply a new modern look to it. Anyone familiar with the old AoG branding would still recognise our new style as AoG, but we want them to have a reaction like "oo, that's AoG, but it's snazzy!" - or something similar.
Once the design was finalised and agreed upon with AoG, we set about applying it to the web. We began a fresh project, and we opted for Joomla as our CMS platform of choice. Joomla is a great flexible CMS for building large scale and fully tailored websites. We built the user experience on one of our favourite UX engines that allowed us to transfer what we had come up as AoG's branding in our design software, onto the web.
For this project we opted for a large full screen video background for our above-fold content area. Video backgrounds are a great way to convey a lot of information all at once in the same space.
We're happy with the design of the new AoG website, and we are looking forward to continuing to build on our relationship in the future!
